(collection) Easter: an ancient tradition re-imagined

Here I am collecting together some of my explorations of Easter. How can I best describe them? Maybe a postmodern and post-Christian look at an ancient tradition (if that’s not to oblique).

I was looking for a way of passing the stories on that is of our times. There’s a wide range, from making a chocolate bilby to a summary of the passion and the significance of ANZAC Day.

1 Easter Guinea pigs This poem is bit of fun that I think nevertheless catches some of the spirit of Easter.

2 How I made a chocolate bilby Easter bunnies are problematic in Australia. Rabbits, introduced for sport, found the country to their liking and took over. Because of this image problem, from time to time there has been a move to replace the chocolate Easter bunny with the chocolate Easter bilby – a cute, endangered marsupial. When I couldn’t find a chocolate bilby during an Easter trip to South Australia I made my own. This is how.

3 A story about bilbies If the Easter bilby is to thrive we will need a story – many stories in fact. Here’s mine:

4 Nine Easter readings with music (I call them ‘fragments) I assembled assorted readings (including my own) and separated them with suggested music, to tell the story of the Easter season in Australia.
