What about the sailors?

After all, organising a regatta is not an end in itself. Its goal is to give the sailors a setting in which they can demonstrate and develop their skills.

And then there is the pure existential joy of being at one with the physical world.

What images stay with me?

• negotiating cruise ships we’ve already seen (ferries too)
• Young children in control of their Mirror, with a grown-up in the limited space left by the boom and vang.
• Boat handling skills
• Capsizing at the final leeward mark
• One lone sailor going right when everyone else went left, and finally crossing the fleet
