When I make model aircraft I follow my flights of fancy. There’s unconventional materials and shapes. I’m always hoping for better performance this time.
My brother, on the other hand, the proper aero-modeller, makes chuck gliders out of balsa wood that fly beautifully.
Here are photos of an English Electric Lightening and a delta wing that he recently made.
Here’s my interpretation of the Lightening, made from aluminium can. It did fly, but the aluminium bends on landing and while I bend it back, in time the model loses its precision.
My brother is making a model Hawker Hunter next; I’m going for an earlier Sydney Camm design, with a Hawker Hart.
