Glossary

Hybrid    A hybrid combines a battery-electric drive and an internal combustion engine to try to increase fuel efficiency, particularly in stop-start driving.

The energy doesn’t get lost    When you want to slow down, the electric component of the hybrid system turns into a regenerative brake. It puts (some of) the energy back into the traction batteries.
