I hadn’t encountered the computer instruction ‘Mount Image’ before, so when my young grandson told me that this was what I should do, I misheard and went off at a tangent.
Mountie Midge
Robin Ford, May 2011
While young Sebbie’s hanging loose
He thinks, “Time for Dr Zeuss.”
“I’ve consumed my bread and jam.”
“Now I’ll have ‘Green eggs and ham.’”
“Grandad, I would like to play”
“My computer game today.”
“Can you please load into RAM”
“All the tales of ‘Sam I am’.”
“Yes, and I will do it now.”
“First of all I‘ll find out how.”
“Are instructions on the fridge?”
“Grandad, you need Mountie Midge.”
Grandad thinks, “With horse and hat”
“She will help us out with that.”
Mountie Midge sounds firm but kind.
But she’s difficult to find.
Is she on the “Desk-top”? No.
Deeper, deeper they must go
Into “My Computer” where
They discover…she’s not there.
But they find as they proceed
All the games that that they will need.
“Click it Grandad, right away!”
But the program will not play.
Seb knows Midge would put it right,
But, it seems, she’s out of sight.
Grandad has a quiet think.
Inspiration in a blink.
Executes a right mouse click
And it neatly does the trick.
Mountie Midge at once appears.
“Can I help you out my dears?”
“Midge, we’d like ‘Green eggs and ham.”
“Loaded into working RAM.”
“I will do it right away.”
“Mustn’t keep you from your play.”
Soon the program’s on the screen
Eggs and ham a brilliant green.
Midge worked just as Sebbie said;
Grandad keeps his Grandad cred.
“Sebbie, saying, “Thank you Miss.”
Blows his Mountie friend a kiss.
